First off, thank you for taking the time out to read this. By doing so, you’re already on your way to becoming an important member of the Stony Brook University chapter of SPJ.
You don’t necessarily have to be a member of SPJ to be a part of the club, but being a member of the organization on campus alone will be beneficial to your career. This upcoming fall semester, the SPJ chapter at Stony Brook is looking to completely transform so that it becomes a place you can get tips and tracks, as well as network and explore.
By being a part of this growing group, we are looking to have you hear from professionals in the industry, as well as take advantage of what the Society of Professional Journalists has to offer. The society, which was started in 1909 as a fraternity known as Sigma Delta Chi, has a mission to ensure that professional journalists are capable of handling any challenges with fair, balanced and accurate information. That’s exactly the path student journalists must take to become those professional journalists once they step off campus grounds. But at the same time, they need this foundation while they’re on campus, too.
